Don't miss your chance to celebrate The Center's 45th Anniversary: An evening with Kao Kalia Yang. The event is in less than 1 week. Buy tickets now!
Why is Kao Kalia Yang perfect for this moment? Kao Kalia Yang was born in the Ban Vinai refugee camp in Thailand after her Hmong family fled war in Laos, and arrived in Minnesota at age six.
The 1980 refugee act was established in response to those fleeing parts of Southeast Asia in the late 1970's including Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. A year later The Center - beginning as the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees- was established.
Celebrate history, hope, and welcome with us on November 12.
