As we approach the close of another impactful year, we reflect on the challenges and successes of the past 12 months, and are grateful for the support of the community. This year, The Center has impacted the lives of  hundreds of refugees, immigrants and newcomers to the Mohawk Valley, which would not be possible  without the  commitment of staff and the generosity of individuals and organizations to our shared mission. The Center resettled just over 300 refugees this year and assisted with hundreds of Humanitarian Parolees from Ukraine and Afghanistan.

This newsletter is a celebration of the milestones achieved, highlighting programs and the dedicated individuals who have made it all possible. We look forward to the opportunities in the year ahead as we serve those new to our community.

Our immigration and citizenship department has completed 320 naturalization and certificate of citizenship applications this year. They assisted over 1,000 people in total with various immigration concerns. The Center has resources and tools to help you with the immigration and citizenship processes. Please feel free to reach out at 315-738-1083 x 106 or ashleyb@thecenterutica.org

The Center participates in the Health Equity Task Force facilitated by  Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), which includes many community partner organizations, and administers a Community Navigator Program. The program has evolved from addressing COVID-19 to include additional health priorities including heart disease & stroke prevention, nutrition, and more recently, diabetes. The program is in it's third year of CDC Foundation funding received by The Center.

Protect your community and loved ones this holiday season and get your flu and Covid vaccines.  For information on vaccine clinics or other questions please contact Maribel  at 315-738-1083 x127, or via email at maribelm@thecenterutica.org #StayInformedSafeAndProtected this winter

The Center recently completed a renovation project through Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding. The Employment Center,  involved the construction of several new staff office spaces, as well as a large conference room. The renovated space will provide a professional location for staff to meet with clients and businesses to facilitate comprehensive employment services and programs to meet regional workforce needs.

The Center's Service to Older Refugees Program (SORP) supports the health and wellness of refugees who are 60 and above. The SORP Coordinator says that she sees a positive change with her clients. One  70 year-old client was shy and very dependent on her daughter in law. Two months later she has increased independence and is laughing more. She enjoys being active, and meeting and seeing new people.

This year The Center has orchestrated several donation drives to welcome our newest neighbors.
